The Mummy – Brand New Trailer!

Is it the norm nowadays to have a teaser of the trailer you’re about to show at the beginning if the trailer itself? Because that’s what appears to be happening with some of the upcoming blockbusters at the moment.

In Universal’s desperate attempt to play catch up with Marvel and DC in bringing about their own combined universe of characters, this time based on the legendary creatures from our stories, we’ve been treated to yet another trailer to hope people will pay money to come see The Mummy.

This latest trailer shows how the titular antagonist escaped her confines (the protagonist was an idiot/mind-controlled/was a mind-controlled idiot.) and then proceeds to show a number of set pieces which will run in between the quiet exposition points of the film, all whilst set to the opening riff of The Rolling Stone’s Paint it Black for some reason that I’m sure is vital to the plot. Even if no one is quite sure how, but they know that it might help get a few more bums in seats.

It’s almost too predictable how it’s all going to end.

The Mummy is out in cinemas June 9th
