The Handmaiden – Brand New Trailer!

I must admit, my knowledge of Korean films is somewhat limited. So much so, that I was rather shocked (ignorantly so, much to my shame) to realise that the adaptation of foreign works to the big screen ran both ways.

Such is the case with Park Chan-Wook’s (Director of Oldboy and Stoker) latest film The Handmaiden. The story is adapted from Sarah Waters’ novel Fingersmith and sees a tense sequence of love and betrayal in its latest trailer.

Without at least a minor knowledge of the plot of the original, the scenes depicted in the trailer make little sense, but show off Park’s incredible cinematography and dark overtones that are seen throughout his films.

The Handmaiden certainly looks like it will be one of the better period dramas to come out this year.

The Handmaiden is out in cinemas April 14th!
