If someone unscrewed our heads and pulled out our dream Academy Award wins for this year’s 2017 ceremony, then this is what it’d look like.

The Independent Spirit Awards, much like our very own British Independent Spirit Awards, have honoured the best in low-budget talent or fervent in non-glitzy Oscar bait  sentiments. This year is no different awarding Moonlight with the most awards  of the night including Best Feature, Best Director, and Best Screenplay.

It makes a change because last year the Oscars and Independent Spirit Awards were pretty much the same format. This year, it’s great to see Ben Foster have the award nomination AND win that should’ve been for Hell or High Water as well as Robert Egger’s beguilling The Witch  also celebrated. Isabelle Huppert proves to be the most awarded actress of the season scooping up another win for Elle, putting her as THE frontrunner for tonight’s Academy awards. Casey Affleck scooped up his win for Manchester by the Sea and Anna Rose Holmer proved she’s one to watch with The Fits. 

It’s going to be an interesting night for film lovers.
