Is there anyone at this point who doubts Cate Blanchett? The stunning Aussie actress has proved time and time again that she’s one of the most talented working today, and that’s why there’s nothing surprising about finding out she plays 13 different characters in her new film, because if anyone can pull it off, it’s her.
Manifesto is a feature film adaptation of a multi-screen art exhibition from 2015, made by Julian Rosenfeldt, and features Blanchett playing 13 different roles, including a homeless man, a new reporter, a scientist and a punk. Manifesto certainly looks interesting; it’s an idea that immediately intrigues, but it’s questionable as to how it would pay off. It looks like it might be a film that you respect more than you like, but of course, it’s far too early to say. Just be excited at getting 13 new Cate Blanchett performances this year.
Manifesto is showing at Sundance on January 27th
