Let’s get this out of the way. The premise for iBOY is idiotic, bordering on moronic.
While running away from a gang who has broken into his friend’s flat, Tom (Bill Milner) suffers a wound that lodges pieces of his smart phone in his brain. This gives him special powers, which he uses to hunt down the gang members and mete out justice upon them.
Forgoing the obvious criticism of “that’s not how technology works” (if nothing else, it’s crucial to the plot.) Everything about this project feels more like an amateur filmmakers early attempts at making a feature, story-wise at least.
If there is any saving grace to this film, it would have to be Maisie Williams as Lucy, Tom’s best friend/potential love interest. Williams is a fantastic actor, and she is likely to pull this film out from total mediocrity.
