Despite all the hype for Manchester by the Sea, there is still a part of me that has responded to all the trailers and clips with a resounding “meh.” I’d like to say that has all changed with the latest clip that has been released, but sadly, that is not the case.
The clip once again, sees Casey Affleck and Lucas Hedges’ characters getting into an argument over boundaries and generational differences. What does make the clip slightly different from the others is the inclusion of director Kenneth Lonnergan as a bystander, watching the chaos unfurl.
Judging by the rave reviews that the film has received, I am almost certainly in the minority of people who are not enamoured by this film, and I am certain that, were I to see it, I would come out singing a very different tune. Unfortunately, the several clips I have seen do not spark a desire within me to see the film.
Manchester by the Sea is out Friday 13th January!
