Go, Go, Money Makers- I mean, um, Power Rangers! The Power Rangers have been around for a very long time and have become an important part of many childhoods. Now, the colour clad heroes are coming back to the big screen in this brand new adaptation.
A group of high-school kids, including the likes of Naomi Scott and RJ Cyler, are infused with unique superpowers, and harness their abilities in order to save the world.
I was honestly shocked to discover this film isn’t directed by Josh Trank, considering it just looks like a mash up of Chronicle and Fant4stic, with a hint of Dragonball Evolution. Maybe the actual film will suggest otherwise, but this trailer shows a much darker interpretation than we’re used to, almost missing the point of Power Rangers entirely. Whilst they perhaps lack faith in the campiness and hilarity of the programs, this film looks completely bland and devoid of fun or entertainment, not to mention the trailer is shoddily put together. It’s just first impressions, but the parallels with Fant4stic are too pressing to ignore. You won’t be in any rush to Go, Go, see this movie.
Power Rangers is out 24th March
