The gravitas of Brian De Palma and his works is absolutely astounding. From his beginnings in the 1960’s to now, there are few who can claim to have had such an impact on the medium of films.
Now, it is time for him to give back some of his love and passion for his work in a new documentary focussed on him by Noah Baumbach and Jake Paltrow, as they discuss his life and approach to filmmaking, and how his illustrious career has graced us with such gems as Scarface, Carrie, Carlito’s Way and Dressed to Kill.
Anyone who’s a fan of this talented man, and even those who aren’t, should watch this documentary to gain a glimpse into the mind of an auteur of the silver screen and his fifty years behind the camera. It promises to be an almost magical (if potentially disturbing) experience.
De Palma is out on September 23rd.
