Do you remember The Nut Job? No? It only came out in 2014; surely you can remember that far back!
Don’t worry. I’m well aware that the children friendly offering was a critical flop, and will only be remembered in the fevered nightmares of the parents and guardians who had to take their young’uns and sit through the lukewarm comedy.
The sequel to that film is coming in the summer of this year, and looks to be a thinly veiled metaphor of big business versus the little guy, as the furry little critters band together once again to save their home from a developer who wants to build a theme park.
Aside from that, there’s a lot of emphasis on cheap slapstick humour and dramatic irony. In the end, this is a film designed for children, and will undoubtedly please them whilst their parents take a nap in the peace and quiet, for many people that may just be enough to make it a success.
The Nut Job 2 is out in cinemas this Summer!
