Contrary to its title, Lady Macbeth has absolutely no links to The Scottish Play other than the title of a character. Instead, it features a woman slowly gaining control over her life and freeing herself from an overbearing husband… Actually, maybe there are a few more similarities between the two.
The latest trailer for what is being billed as one of the most impressive movies of the year features a sinister voiceover making belittling comments about the protagonist and women in general. Over the top of this, we are given several brief, raunchy shots of Florence Pugh’s character in flagrante delicto with a young man who is most definitely not her husband.
If this is your first introduction to the film, then you’ll likely be left utterly bewildered as to what the plot is, however there is a hint of intrigue to a darker, more sinister production embedded within the minute’s trailer.
Lady Macbeth is out in cinemas April 28th!
