Golden Globes last night went with little upset. Well, if you can include Republicans, Donald Trump, and people sending up Meryl Streep’s GLORIOUS speech.
La La Land naturally scooped up all the awards for Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Film in the Musical or Comedy category, scoring gongs for Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. Damien Chazelle also won two awards for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay meaning that La La Land is steaming ahead to the Academy Awards but, that’s expected, it’s the other awards that are truly exciting.
Isabelle Huppert scooped up a Best Actress gong for her award in the undeniably superb Elle whilst Moonlight walked away with Best Drama (which is so wonderful, I cannot even think of the words.)
TV awards went to the Brits with Claire Foy, Hugh Laurie, Olivia Colman, and Tom Hiddleston with the last three winning the awards for The Night Manager. Donald Glover also won an award for his great performance in Atlanta.
My only bit of contention goes with Supporting Actor. Aaron Taylor-Johnson over Mahershala Ali? Pfft, I don’t think so. I’ve thought about Ali’s performance every day. Also, this article pretty much sums up how I feel about it.
What do you think of the awards?
