It’s fair to say that the DC Extended Universe isn’t quite going to plan; Batman vs. Superman was a boring mess that divided fans and critics and became the topic of much heated debate, whilst Suicide Squad had so much promise, yet studio interference lead to it being an underwhelming, poorly cut, above average film (And I’m saying that as someone who quite enjoys the film, and saw it four times). Up next on the roster is Wonder Woman, a character who you think they would’ve made a major film about by now, but sadly that isn’t the case. But the film looks set to prove that this was a mistake in this amazing second trailer.
Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers and her true destiny.
Much like the first trailer, there’s so much to love about this; it looks funny, enticing and absolutely thrilling, with some amazing action sequences on a show, and we already know from Batman vs. Superman that Gal Gadot kicks arse as Wonder Woman (She was basically the best thing about the film, with her amazing fighting and ridiculously precise email reading skills). But the thing is, Suicide Squad looked exactly the same. It looked outstanding, and then the product just wasn’t up to scratch. This is far too common a problem for DC, for shoddy films to be released in cinemas, and then an extended version on Blu-Ray months later to rectify the problems. All we can do is pray that Wonder Woman is the bad ass superhero film it looks to be the first time round.
Wonder Woman is out 2nd June 2017
