From Mike Mills, the acclaimed director of Oscar winning Beginners, comes another great drama with an all star cast lead by Annette Benning, Greta Gerwig and Elle Fanning, exploring the lives and loves of three women in the 1970s, in 20th Century Women.
Set in Santa Barbara, the film follows Dorothea Fields (Annette Bening), a determined single mother in her mid-50s who is raising her adolescent son, Jamie (Lucas Jade Zumann) at a moment brimming with cultural change and rebellion. Dorothea enlists the help of two younger women in Jamie’s upbringing – via Abbie (Greta Gerwig), a free-spirited punk artist living as a boarder in the Fields’ home, and Julie (Elle Fanning), a savvy and provocative teenage neighbor.
There’s so much to love about this trailer; the groovy music, the stunning cinematography, the already excellent performances (Particularly from Benning and Fanning), and the feel good yet emotional nature of it. 20th Century Women looks great on all accounts, and will hopefully get a lot of buzz around awards season.
20th Century Women is out in the UK on 20th January 2017
