Historical figures are perfect material for films, and Natalie Portman needs a role that isn’t shit, so put the two together and you get the already well reviewed Jackie. Following the assassination of her husband, First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy (Portman) fights through grief and trauma to regain her faith, console her children, and define her husband’s historic legacy.
There is something kind of mesmerising about this trailer; a collection of beautiful shots fading in and out to a great song with snippets of quotes scattered throughout. It sells the film wonderfully. The atmosphere and art design of the era is very inviting, and Portman looks set to give a possibly Oscar nominated performance. Just from this short teaser, she captures the essence of the iconic First Lady. Joining her are other great actors like Greta Gerwig, Peter Saarsgaard, John Hurt and Richard E. Grant.
Jackie looks like it could be a great biopic, and will most certainly be talked about during awards season.
Jackie is out 2nd December in the US, with no UK release date yet.
