World cinema is most definitely nowhere near as appreciated as it should be, and it’s stars tend to find little fame because of that. Starring in larger than life roles in films like Yojimbo, Rashomon and Seven Samurai, Mifune quickly made a name for himself in Japanese cinema, and has since become an icon. This film sees film lovers like Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg pay tribute to one of the greats nearly 20 years after his death, with narration by Keanu Reeves, a large admirer of martial arts films.
