The dystopian future is always a popular choice for stories. It’s easy to take certain aspects from the modern age and twist them to show a semblance of normality/loss that helps you to relate to the protagonists and huddled masses, of course, this isn’t quite always the way.
The Handmaid’s Tale tells a chilling story where women have once again been made subservient to men, used for little more than breeding. The protagonist, Offred, (played by Mad Men’s Elisabeth Moss) decides to do everything she can to survive this horrific nightmare.
The series, which is coming to US streaming service Hulu, will tell the story of the present day, whilst also flashing back to a more progressive time, and depicting how the change came about.
With the series also starring Samira Wiley and Joseph Fiennes, there is plenty to look forward to in this exciting narrative. It’s just a shame that us Brits have absolutely no way of watching it until Hulu comes to the UK…
The Handmaid’s Tale is out on Hulu April 26th!
I would totally want to watch this as read the novel at A Level and it well made no sense at all. So actually being able to watch it would certainly be something I would like! Shame we aren’t going to get it any time soon in the UK!
