Do you believe in magic?
Well, Marvel are about to bring you a hefty dose of it in the latest trailer for Doctor Strange.
Starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the titular role, Doctor Strange revolves around a medical professional who, after an accident, goes soul searching in the deepest regions of the world. Under the tutelage of The Ancient One, he comes to find that there is more to this world than what it seems and begins to master the powers within it. But, like most origins stories, as soon as he learns his talents, something evil is about to come.
The irritating thing about Doctor Strange is the fact that behind the scene photos are flinging their way around – much more than Civil War and Age of Ultron. But as the trailer tells us, we need to forget what we know and Cumberbatch seems to have excellently slipped into this role. We’re jonsing for the rest of the cast too: Tilda Swinton as his spirit guide The Ancient One, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Karl Mondo is always excellent, and Mads Mikkelson is the main villain. Directed by Scott Derrickson who previous conceived Sinister and The Day the Earth Stood Still, there’s a bit of trepidation as to whether Derrickson can convey the majesty and grandeur of the character.
With the Inception-y like production design, a swelling score, and a badass cape, Doctor Strange could be epic. But it the possibility of being utterly awful.
