Tim Burton hasn’t made a good film in four years, so we can only pray that Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is a return to form for the iconic director. In this clip, the villainous Barron (Samuel L. Jackson) is on his way to do…Something, before Jacob (Asa Butterfield) and Emma (Ella Purnell) turn to up to stop him from doing…Something. Emma uses her strong breath to pin him against the wall whilst Jacob goes to do whatever it is that needs to be done to stop whatever is happening, but Barron insists that they won’t stop him from doing…Something.
This was a really odd clip to release; it obviously comes from the second/third act of the film, considering Jacob and Barron are acquainted when at the beginning of the film, Jacob is supposed to be entirely new to this world. Something is happening yet it’s entirely unclear what it is, thereby making the clip a tad confusing. Still, Samuel L. Jackson is doing what he does best: Be Samuel L. Jackson. He’s clearly having a lot of fun in the role, as he does with every role. Hopefully, this is just a poorly marketed clip, and the rest of the film is really quite good.
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is out September 23rd
