BFI Film Festival is officially here! The program has been announced for a whole flurry of film-lovers, filmmakers, and absolute obsessives to get their filthy film soaked mitts on the juicy and brilliant films they have in store. We’ve already been obsessed with the announcements that have come before with Opening Gala A United Kingdom, Closing Gala Free Fire, and American Express Gala Lion. Now we can finally enjoy the plethora of movies that’ll illuminate the heart of London on October!
Here is the list of phenomenal events. Seriously, it’s like all the most exciting films:
– Damien Chazelle’s La La Land is a Headline Gala.
– Nate Park’s The Birth of a Nation too features in a Headline Gala.
– Spike Lee’s Chi-Raq will helm the Sonic Gala.
– Boxing drama Bleed for This will take prime place at the Thrill Gala.
– The Informer features as part of the BFI National Archive Restoration.
– Queen of Katwe screens as part of the Virgin Atlantic Gala and stars David Oyelowo and Lupita Nyong’o.
– British Comedy Their Finest screens as part of the Mayor of London Gala and features Gemma Arterton and Bill Nighy.
– Denis Villeneuve’s space romp Arrival features as part of the RBC Gala
– Debate Gala will feature Nocturama.
– Andrea Arnold’s American Honey is BFI’s Festival Special Presentation.
– The Mayfair Hotel Gala will be Liam Neeson helmed A Monster Calls.
– Check out the Dare Gala which’ll show Park Chan-Wooks’ The Handmaiden.
– Mirzya will have prime place at the Love Gala.
– Olivier Stone’s biopic thriller starring Joseph Gordan-Levitt – Snowden – takes a Headline Gala.
– Another Headline Gala is Jake Gyllenhaal and Amy Adams drama Nocturnal Animals.
– Ava DuVarney’s The 13th has a Documentary Special Presentation in association with Time Out London.
– Xavier Dolan’s It’s Only the End of the World is the BFI Flare Special Presentation.
– Manchester by the Sea will light up screens as a Headline Gala.
On top of this, a new venue has been erected for London Film Festival and is nestled in the heart of Victoria Embankment Gardens.
